My first flower portrait was done in 2003, a random selection of ideas that has gradually evolved into this series. It originated from a simple appreciation of flowers' unique beauty. As I closely studied the blossoms, I could not help but to admire their passionate presence: A flower is never shy to show its true colors. In its relatively short lifetime, a flower is determined to maximize its being - being full, and being alive.
As you may have read in my other pages, I have always considered myself a portrait painter even when painting flowers. During these intimate sittings with my little friends, they individually stood out and their personalities commanded my undivided attention. It was like having pillow talks with your best friend in absolute openness. It was like being close to someone you love to worship.
